the majority of islam is all with us on this fight. helping us in this fight. and this is not a country about hate. never has been. we've got to recognize that. we've got to frankly deal with the majority of islam in good faith and show that we're willing to work with them as they're willing to work with us to get rid of this bad element that did this terrible event on 9/11 and would like to hurt us again if they possibly could. >> schieffer: well, governor, i just saw congressman ellison shaking his head. we have about 20 seconds... in agreement with you. about 20 seconds left. congressman, just a final thought. >> a final thought is that i'm looking and talking with my colleagues about how we could perhaps pull together a bill to help study radicalization. we don't know enough about it. we're operating on anecdotes. i think we need to move forward with governor kaine's analysis and recommendation and i commend him for his work. >> schieffer: thank you so much both of you. we'll be back with some final thoughts. boehner wants to give us. we just can't afford it. and really what we ought to do is as the president said agree on the middle class tax cuts. let's not hold them hostage while we debate whether we're going to give this very small number of people at the top a tax cut that we can't afford. >> it was striking to me hearing the president on friday when he talked about the economy and the choice in this election. he did not mention anything in his opening remarks about health care reform, which he and you and others have billed as signature achievement of this administration and you said once people know more about health care, the more popular it will become. we see reporting this week in politico that in fact there aren't any democrats who supported this who are out there touting that vote and only those that opposed it are touting it in the election. senator chuck schumer was on the program in march and this is what he said about health care. >> i predict by november those who voted for health care will find it an asset and those who

use that money to pay for tax breaks for the middle class. but the business community has been talking about how horrible it is, having a tax cut when the economy is so fragile, robbing the economy of its recovery. there are a lot of democrats who are boggling. we will see if they can deliver. i do not think they can deliver the promise. >> actually, a former member of the obama administration drew the same conclusion. >> whether we are talking about rahm emanuel or peter orszag, [inaudible] the rights and in "the new york times" calling for an extension of the tax cuts that the rich has. >> this is something that the president can draw a line on. he does have a veto power. he can decide whether or not to extend the tax cuts for the rich for a year or something like that, or not. it seems to me the best thing to do would be to pull it back for those people who make less than $200,000, and will veto anything that does not help them. >> george stephanopoulos tried to nail him down on that question, but he said he would not necessarily veto. >>
